Where are the best gardens in the northern suburbs of Wollongong?

So, I was walking to Thirroul Beach via McCauley St and was blown away by so many beautiful blooms.

Spring has well and truly sprung. Gardens all around the northern suburbs have come alive.

I’m not a gardener, but I wish I was. Especially at this time of year.

Gardens transform our suburbs. Everything just feels happier walking past blooming bushes and clouds of colour.

How to enter our BLOOMING BEACHES competition

To celebrate spring in the northern suburbs and recognise the wonderful gardeners and their achievements, we’re launching BLOOMING BEACHES, our spring Facebook and Instagram competition.

Do you have a favourite garden or flowering-wonder near you? Or are you proud of what you’ve achieved in your garden?

By the end of Spring (next Friday 30 November), take a photo of a beautiful local bloom or garden and post on our Facebook page @oneagencydowniedenisonpender or Instagram page @oneagencythirroul with the hashtag #bloomingbeaches. Then share with your friends to Like. The post that captures the essence of our blooming beaches will win a $100 voucher for Thirroul’s most beautiful florist shop, Luca Luna.

How about sharing your own tips?

We’d also welcome you to share where you took the photo and start a discussion on your favourite blooming parts of our suburbs. Any streets which you love walking down?

Also, are there plants around here that you know will always do wonderfully?

I’d love to improve my own garden, and I’m sure some of our Facebook and Instagram friends would too. Maybe you have some gardening tips you can share for this climate, terrain and our soils?

Will a garden add re-sale value to your home?

Gardens are good for the soul. It makes sense real-estate buyers agree.

Most home buyers figure out their interest in a property at first glance – whether it’s driving by, online or from a street view. In this instance, an appealing front garden can significantly boost a property’s selling potential.

If you are planning to significantly alter your garden, keep in mind how it will suit the lifestyle of future buyers.

The priority tends to be low maintenance, compact outdoor dining areas. Usually residents value areas where they can relax, read or entertain in the sunshine.

Why we love Spring

So as Spring draws to a close, we hope you’ll help us celebrate the gift of so many beautiful gardens in our northern suburbs.

We look forward to hearing from you on our Facebook or Instagram pages.
